Our approach enables organisations and individuals to quickly and cost-effectively build BRMS that address a wide variety of problems. The solutions to these problems can then be stored in the form of software on remote servers and made available for employees and customers to access via the web on an ASP (application service provider) basis.

So, for example, staff at an investment company might routinely need to know whether a particular investment qualifies for a particular type of tax relief and, if it does, to complete the relevant application form to the Inland Revenue. The existing way of dealing with this situation might be to have a single individual in the organisation who is the tax expert. At the point in the work cycle that employees are faced with this problem, they defer to the expert.

An alternative way to deal with this problem is to use Empiricom SOLAR^TM to capture that expertise once and then make it available over an intranet or internet. This would not only answer whether or not the investment qualified for relief, but if it did, it could make the tax application form "intelligent" and easy for the non-expert to complete and submit.

The key differentiating factors underpinning Empiricom’s approach are the speed and accuracy with which rule sets can be built. This means that a BRMS approach can be adopted cost-effectively in many more situations than was previously the case.
